Protesis de Rodilla total, Cádiz, Costa de la Luz

Advanced three-compartment osteoarthritis of the three main regions of the knee: external, internal and femoro-patellar compartments due to the deterioration of their structures.

Total replacement of the knee joint with metal implants. The surfaces of the femur, tibia, and patella are replaced. The metal implants are separated by a polyethylene spacer that makes both surfaces smooth gliding. At the posterior side of the patella a polyethylene component is placed, which avoids direct contact of these three structures and therefore the typical pain of advanced osteoarthritis, allowing loadbearing (walking) function in about 48 hours after surgery.
