Location

Clinica Novo Sancti Petri  is located in a unique environment, where lighthouses and watchtowers are part of the beaches, and are surrounded by a rich native vegetation.

Near to the clinic you can see the Castle of Sancti Petri which gives the name to our area and invites us to explore its ancient history.

Under the castle is the rest of the old palace of Hercules or Melkart, which according to history was visited by Julius Caesar. The residential area Novo Sancti Petri, the location of the clinic, was the scene of the Battle of La Barrosa on 5th March 1811, during the Spanish Independence War. In this battle, the Anglo-Hispanic allied troops, led by General Graham and General De Lapeña defeated the French troops of the Duke of Bellune.

Along the coast to the South, near Vejer de la Frontera, about 30 km from Chiclana, is the lighthouse of Trafalgar, that was witness to the historic battle that takes its name. In the Battle of Trafalgar the English led by Admiral Nelson defeated the Franco-Spanish army. Further along the coast, at the most southern point of Spain, is the city and Rock of Gibraltar, a British colony since the Treaty of Utrecht. A few kilometres away, the city of Cádiz, the capital of the province, an ancient city with Phoenician origins, shows us a variety of seascapes, attractive monuments and gastronomy.

The city of Cadiz has always been linked to the New World and has also played an important role with Seville in the American colonisation.

Incalculable Phoenician and Roman archaeological artifacts have been taken out from the sea in our area, and they can be seen in the Museum of Cadiz. In the countryside area of the province is located the city of Jerez, world-famous for its excellent wines and a reference for flamenco music.

And in the northwest coast is the city of Sanlucar de Barrameda, famous for its manzanilla (a white sherry), and for being the starting point of the expedition of Magellan and Elcano in relation to the first round-the-world tour. Finally, but not less important, we have the Pueblos Blancos (white villages) of Cadiz, pretty and old-world villages in the mountains of the countryside of the province.
